$5 million to memorialize undertold Appalachian stories

What undertold WNC stories deserve a monument? The ask comes from Monuments Across Appalachian Places (MAAP), a Mellon Foundation-funded initiative run by Virginia Tech researchers to bring overlooked histories into public view — especially those of communities that have been historically excluded.
